Views from The Commonty
The Commonty is a sloping park in the eastern valley of the Gairie Burn and separates the Southmuir from the Town Centre. It was traditionally used as a drying green and is popular for sledging in the winter months. A path leads from the Southmuir end of Bellies Brae towards the Gairie Burn, on to Marywell past the JD Wilkie textile factory and the site where Kirriemuir Railway Station was situated at the foot of Marywell Brae.
